3. State/ Point Out

1. Definition:

Present the information asked for in a clear way.


2. Examples:

State the main arguments presented in the text for the prohibition of alcoholic beaverages.

Point out the witer’s attitude towards ethnic minorities.


3. Description:

This operator focuses on a clear and structured presentation of information. Make sure that the information you present is relevant. You must not add information to expand the length of your essay. The essay has to be concise and on the point. This includes the omission of your opinion. That is, leave out phrases like: ”I think... .”


4. Useful Vocabulary:

The author describes the situation of/

-...informs the reader about/

-...tries to persuade the reader to/

-...explains the situation of/

-...attacks the idea that/

-...doubts the evidence for/

-...defends the argument that...


5. Advice

State especially relates only to the content of the text. You must not include your own opinion.
